VBC depends on a clearing firm to enable our registered representatives to service you, our client, with confidence. We use Hilltop Securities Inc. (HTS) to provide execution and clearing services.
HTS was formed by the merger of Southwest Securities, our former clearing firm, and First Southwest that have been leading clearing agents and trade processors providing services to more than 200 financial services firms nationwide. HTS is part of the Hilltop Holdings family, a publicly traded company (NYSE:HTH).
HTS is a registered broker/dealer and is a member of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc. (FINRA) and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
As a member of SIPC, HTS also maintains securities account protection in excess of SIPC limits. This additional protection covers the entire net equity of each account up to an aggregate of $100 million. For additional information regarding SIPC coverage, including a brochure, please contact SIPC at (202) 371‐8300 or visit www.sipc.org.
In addition to clearing trades, HTS adapts its services to meet the specific business needs of its clearing clients and offer such products and services as recordkeeping, trade reporting, accounting, general back-office support, securities and margin lending, reorganization assistance and custody of securities.
VBC does not carry proprietary products for our representatives to sell. Because VBC registered representatives are tasked with identifying investment opportunities that best suit the clients' goals and objectives, our relationship with HTS is particularly valuable to us. HTS has comprehensive clearing and settlement services that are available for all major product types including equities, options, futures, mutual funds and fixed income products.
